When I talk to a lot of veterinarians who have left practice or are considering leaving practice, it’s because they’ve lost their joy, drive and passion for veterinary practice.

I totally understand. It was the same for me too.

I walked away after 7 years as it wasn’t making me happy. I was bored, underpaid and sick of having no time for a life. I couldn’t see how I could have a family with the long hours I was working.

After doing my coach training and having my son, I came back into practice and everything was different.

It was different as I was different.

I had new skills allowing me to cope with my frustrations. I learned how to reframe mistakes and challenges. I viewed clients in a different light and understood them so much better.

After learning about positive psychology, I integrated this into practice and I found more joy and engagement in my work. I understood why I was bored at times and disengaged.

I want to share what I’ve learned at the Global Veterinary Careers Summit. It’s being held on 24 – 27th June across 3 time zones, Australia, US and the UK.

I will be presenting 2 sessions. The first is Rediscover Your Passion for Practice and I will be presenting a second session with Dr Cathy Warburton on Coaching Veterinary Professionals.

The summit will be incredible and I highly recommend getting a ticket. It is really affordable and you can access the recording for 12 months after the summit.
