We are mid way through March already!  Is it just me, or does it feel like time flies as you get older??
Are you on track to achieve your goals for this year?  Your career, life, health, family, holiday and financial goals.
Don’t panic if you’ve got off track or hit a few bumps.  You still have over 9 months!  I’ve only just started my health goal in the last few weeks that I have been procrastinating on since January….
I am guilty of over committing and then under performing with personal goals.  What I have learned to do instead is focus only on 3 areas but work on 1 goal at a time.  Normally I would do a bit here and there and lose momentum and focus.
I have a word that is my theme for the year.  Have you thought about doing something similar for yourself?
I actually have 2 words this year – FOCUS and ENERGY.  As I became much busier last year, it was easy to be distracted and towards the end of the year, I was exhausted.
So, this year it’s time to work on my health, lose weight and get fit, as well as keeping focussed on what I want to achieve this year.
Why am I telling you about this now and not back in January?
In December and January, it’s important to review the previous year and set intentions and goals for the coming year.  However, just because the first 3 months of the year have passed, doesn’t mean you should give up on the goals that have fallen by the wayside or that you can’t set a new goal.  You can set goals in December and achieve them!
Remember to set milestones along the way that keep you on track to achieving your goal. This helps to keep the momentum and gives you a sense of achievement.
It’s also important to write down and celebrate what you have achieved.  Being the high achievers that we all are, I noticed in myself and others that we would only celebrate the big things as the little things didn’t seem important or big enough.  Don’t do this!  Celebrate every step of the way as it creates a positive feedback loop in your brain.
Tonight or on your next day off, sit down and review your goals and consider what you want to achieve in 2016 and for the years to come.  I’m not just talking your about career here.  Is there a trip you want to take, do you want to purchase a house or investment property or are you thinking about starting a family.  Think about what you need to do to get there.
I have travel goals for Antartica and walking the Camino de Santiago trail.  I have no idea when or how and whether it will be with the kids, my husband & I or solo.  I just know that they are places I want to visit and experience.
On my husband’s bucket list is a trip to Cape York (the northern tip of Australia).  We have starting planning and budgeting to do that trip in either 2 to 3 years.  We have the 4WD.  Nothing else – LOL.  So the kids and I will be attending every caravan and camping show in Brisbane for the next 2 years! Groan…..
I would also like to give a big shout out to all my clients in Australia who are studying for the Membership and Fellowship exams.
They are all studying hard and are still working long hours.  They are completing a goal that for most of them was planned 3 to 4 years ago.  There have been many sacrifices over the last year.  I want to celebrate your commitment, perseverance and grit!  You are nearly at the finish line.
