I grew up with horses and would spend every weekend riding around the countryside as a kid. We had Arabs and ponies.
I remember being at high school when the Tom Quilty came to my home town. I was so excited and volunteered for the weekend handing out time slips and helping at the dinner.
I have continued that involvement since Vet School. I was a student TPR and have been an endurance veterinarian since graduation.
There is nothing like the smell of hay, manure and sweaty horses!!
Yesterday, I was at the Widgee endurance ride with the same group of vets. We meet every year at this ride and have a great time with the wonderful organisers and riders.
I love being a veterinarian at endurance rides. Watching these magnificent athletes and what they are capable of is incredible. I have watched riders grow up and are now seeing their children ride as well.
I have my horse fix & always being to wonder when and if we will move back to the country. I come back invigorated and rejuvenated.
What do you love to do? Make sure you make time to do it!
Ensure you have a passion, hobby or interest outside of your career.
This is especially important for parents as your whole life can become work and the children. You must create time for yourself.
