In January, I received many emails from frustrated and disillusioned veterinarians. Usually, they’ve had a break over the festive season and they can’t bear the thought of going back to practice.
I know the feeling and I remember what it is like. I kept hoping things would improve. I would be appreciated more and I would find clients easier to deal with.
I kept waiting and waiting. Guess what? It won’t happen unless you make it happen.
That took me a long time to learn as I had been raised to believe that if you worked hard, you would be rewarded. They forgot to tell me that I had to ask first….
Things changed for me when I made a decision about what I wanted from my career, the type of practice I wanted to work for and the clients I enjoyed.
I started searching for new learning opportunities and the right practice to enable me to develop and improve my skills. I found the clients I loved working with.
Finding the right practice for me, has made a tremendous difference in my fulfilment and happiness in practice and at home.
